It was reported at 6:10 a.m. at a house off a long, gravel driveway in the 11400 block of N. Dogwood Lane.
No one was inside when the fire broke out. The resident was in a detached garage and went to a neighbor’s house to call 911. About 20 firefighters responded. The daylight basement was in flames when they arrived.
The fire caused so much damage to the one-story house they had to fight it from outside. It was under control in about 40 minutes. The house is considered a total loss.
Firefighters expect to remain on the scene through the afternoon to watch for hot spots.
The cause is unknown.
